Heartwood Lumber was originally founded in Ozark, Missouri by Joe Somers in the mid-’90s. Through hard work and a unique offering, Heartwood Log and Lumber rapidly became the regional leader for all things rustic. During that time, our most popular product was our log siding and railings. People found it to be an effective way to emulate the look of a true log home without sacrificing the challenges that accompany real logs.
Mr. Somers unexpectedly passed away in 2007 on an Alaskan fishing trip doing what he loved most. Courageously, his wife June stepped in and continued to grow the business with the help of a core team of employees who had become like family. She was able to navigate the challenging times from 2008-2011 when the housing economy fell flat in the U.S
Upon retiring to Florida in 2016, Ms. Somers decided it was finally time to sell her creation in order for Heartwood Log and Lumber to continue to serve its valued clients with their premium products.
Jon Fife had always had a keen interest in Heartwood Log and Lumber, as he saw it as an attractive complement to another service-based business he owned in the area. A deal was struck between the two and Jon took over in 2017. As an entrepreneur, Jon was excited to grow the current brand and its offerings to expand the business throughout the Midwest.
We pay respects to our memorable past, and we are excited about a growing and fast-paced future! Contact us to see how we can become a part of your project.
